Henry (Harry) Allen Ironside (1876-1951) was born into a believing home in Toronto, Canada. After his father’s death, the family moved to California in 1886. Ironside was converted in 1890. He preached his first sermon in the open air from Isaiah 53:6. He was interrupted by an older co-worker, who gave him a tug on his coat, “Boy, we should have been in the hall twenty minutes ago. You’ll have to tell us the rest some other time.” Often, Ironside would say, “I have been trying to tell the rest al through the years since.” After a stint in the Salvation Army (1890-1896), he laboured as an itinerant evangelist and Bible teacher until 1930 when he became the regular preacher at Moody Memorial Church in Chicago. During his residence there, he wrote Unless You Repent. From 1948 until his death, he returned to his itinerant ministry. Besides a herculean preaching schedule for most of his active career, he authored more than sixty volumes. Some of his book titles include:
