DAILY?READINGS: Gen. 2:4-25; Job 2:11 to 3:26; Matt. 2

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.     1 Corinthians 9:24

With each new year comes the desire for a fresh start. Past goals are evaluated and new goals are set. Here are two biblical standards to guide our priorities in this new year before us. First of all, our goals must be honouring to God’s name (Col. 3:17). Secondly, our goals must be set before the Lord in prayer to see whether they are His will for us (Phil. 4:6). If these criteria cannot be met, the goal is not worth our effort.    —Sam Thorpe

Marching on, marching on,
For Christ count everything but loss!
And to crown Him King, we’ll toil and sing,
Beneath the banner of the cross!
