DAILY?READINGS: Gen. 39; Psalm 17; Matt. 22:15-46

Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand.    Psalm 80:17

This verse pictures the honoured position Christ enjoys at the Father’s right hand—a place of power, privilege, and preeminence. Christ is seen at God’s right hand: after He purged our sins (Heb. 1:3); after He rose from the dead (Rom. 8:34); after He ascended and was exalted by God (Acts 2:33). It must have been comforting for the martyr Stephen to see, “the glory of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God” (Acts 7:55). It behooves us to, “Seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God” (Col. 3:1).    —Milton Haack

O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home.
Under the shadow of Thy throne, Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone, and our defense is sure. —Isaac Watts
