DAILY?READINGS: Gen. 49; Psalms 28-29; Matt. 27:1-26

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.  Isaiah 40:31

The majestic eagle mates for life. It is known for its swiftness, scent, and keen sight. But here the emphasis is on the exceeding strength of his wings. That strength can be dispensed to all those that wait upon the Lord. How? By the power of God’s Word, through His Spirit, and prayer. —E. MacLelland

Though thy way be long and dreary;
Eagle strength He’ll still renew;
Garments fresh and foot unweary,
Tell how God hath brought thee through.
—J. N. Darby
