DAILY?READINGS: Exodus 22 to 23:9; Psalms 64-65; Acts 12

Boaz said, unto Ruth, Go not to glean in another field, but abide here fast by my maidens.    Ruth 2:8

The eye of Boaz observed Ruth, the recently arrived young widow from Moab. Soon, looks turned to love. Because of his loving concern, he wished to see her safely gleaning in his field. His young men were instructed not to touch or harm her and to provide her with refreshing water as she toiled in the blazing sun. In the field of the one who was to become her kinsman redeemer, Ruth found protection, provision, and enjoyable fellowship with others in the same service. Don’t leave the field where God has placed you for a non-satisfying world.  —Arnot McIntee

Go labour, on; spend and be spent; thy joy to do the Father’s will;
It is the way the Master went; should not the servant tread it still?
—Horatius Bonar
