DAILY READINGS: Exodus 28:15-43; Psalms 74:1-75:10; Acts 16:16-40

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. James 4:17

When I asked a friend whose husband was terminally ill whether any church friend had come to offer encouragement, she shook her head and sadly answered, “No.” It made me wonder where are the comforters? Surely in every company of believers, God has gifted someone with compassion. Maybe we need to examine the intents of our hearts. Are we listening to the Holy Spirit’s voice? Is He saying, “This is the way, walk ye in it” (Isa. 30:21), pointing to a ministry of helpfulness. —E. Dyck

There is a place of comfort sweet, near to the heart of God,
A place where we our Saviour meet, near to the heart of God. —C. McAfee
