DAILY READINGS: Deuteronomy 2:1-37; Eccl. 2:12-3:15; Luke 6:20-49

The inward man is being renewed day by day. 2 Cor. 4:16, NKJV

Wrinkles and age spots increase as we get older; aches and fatigue are the norm. Our cabinet shelves are often replete with pills, creams, and other cosmetic solutions. Paul writes here about developing the right perspective on the things that really matter. In this verse, the emphasis is on things internal, not things external. Renewal is a daily event; “day by day.” It’s not what is inside that counts; rather, it is who is inside that counts. While we recognize that our outward self is failing, we can rejoice that the inward is flourishing. —N. C. Funston

As we gaze on Your kingly brightness,
So our faces display Your likeness;
Ever changing from glory to glory;
Mirrored here, may our lives tell Your story. —Graham Kendrick
