DAILY READINGS: Judges 11:29-12:15; Isaiah 32:1-20; 1 Cor. 10:14-11:1

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane. Matthew 26:36

Have you ever compared the conflicts in the two gardens, in Eden and Gethsemane? In Eden, faced with temptation, man disobeyed God’s Word, and died because he had sinned against God. In Gethsemane, faced with an unparalleled trial, Jesus obeyed God’s will; and in so doing suffered and died to save us from the consequences of that first failure in Eden. Now God can justify His love for man to offer him eternal life because a sinless substitute has borne sin’s judgement for man. Do you believe this? —K. C. Ung

Gethsemane can I forget? Or there Thy conflict see,
Thine agony, and bloody sweat, and not remember Thee? —James Montgomery
