Genesis 30:1-43; Job 40:1-41:34; Matthew 16:13-17:13

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Psalm 23:3

What did David mean by the words “for his name’s sake”? In answer to this question it has been explained that, “If the second clause points out where He leads, this last clause points out why He leads us there”. He leads us so that He, not we, may be exalted. Have you bowed your knees before the Lord and confessed with your tongue that blessed name? —W. Ross Rainey

Jesus is the name that charms us;
He for conflict fits and arms us;
Nothing moves and nothing harms us,
While we trust in Him. —Thomas Kelly
