Exodus 17:1-16; Psalm 55:1-23; Acts 9:32-43

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:8

The first mention of help in the Scripture is God’s statement in Genesis 2:18, “I will make him an help meet (fit) for him”. The last mention is Hebrews 4:16 “grace to help in time of need”. Just as God created Eve to come alongside Adam and complement him, our Lord Jesus Christ is able to come alongside us and minister to our need, whatever it might be. That resource is encapsulated in the phrase “the name of the Lord” as stated in our text. —Wm. H. Gustafson

Take the name of Jesus with you, child of sorrow and of woe;
It will joy and comfort give you, take it, then, where’er you go. —Mrs. Lydia Baxter
