DAILY READINGS: Exodus 37:1-29; Psalm 89:19-52; Acts 22:1-21
Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. Isaiah 1:18
Sin stains! The scarlet and the crimson referred to in this passage were “fast dyes.” That is, once the fabric had received the dyes, the stain was indelible. Such are the stains of sin. Once sins have been committed, the stain cannot be removed by man’s device. But what an offer the Lord makes to sin-stained man: He will remove indelible stain, and make the sinner as pure and clean as fresh snow. “And the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). —W. H. Burnett
There is a fountain filled with blood, drawn from Immanuel’s veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.
