Leviticus 9:1-24; Psalms 109:1-110; Mark 1:21-45

The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18, NKJV

John M. Moore, the writer of the beloved hymn “Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary”, includes these words in the hymn, “Jesus is very near”. The Scriptures talk of the benefits of being near to Christ—even in hard situations. Peter, after he denied knowing Jesus, looked upon the Lord and wept. The repentant thief on the cross, facing his imminent death, was close enough to ask the Lord to remember him when He came into His kingdom. In both cases the Lord forgave them and loved them. Is your heart aching? Does your situation seem hopeless? Dear friend, Jesus is very near. —Bob Cretney

Troubled soul, the Saviour can feel, every heartache and tear.
Burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near. —John M. Moore
