DAILY READINGS: Deut. 28:1-37; Amos 3:1-4:13; Luke 14:1-24
Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1, NKJV
A roadside sign outside the English village of Wingham had two letters missing. The letters “r” and “v” had been knocked off. Instead of “Drive Carefully” the sign read “D-i-e Carefully”! So many people rush about with busy lives. How wise to stop for a moment to think about the end of life and to prepare to die. Dear reader, die carefully! Die knowing Christ as Saviour. Die with sins forgiven. I hope you will give this some thought— carefully. —Brian Powlesland
Hasten sinner to be wise! Stay not for the morrow’s sun;
Wisdom, if you still despise, harder is it to be won.
Hasten, mercy to implore! Stay not for the morrow’s sun;
Lest thy season should be o’er, ere this evening’s stage be run. —T. Scott
