Deuteronomy 34:1-12; Hosea 6:4-7:16; Luke 19:1-28

And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts. Psalm 119:45

In our society, laws are associated with restrictions and loss of personal freedom. In God’s kingdom His law is the law of liberty, because in keeping God’s rules and surrendering to His will, we experience freedom. The freedom to fully experience what He has created us to be. “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Those who would not have this man Jesus to reign over them are in true bondage, the bondage of sin. —D. Pickup

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood.
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood. —Lewis E. Jones

DAILY READINGS: Deut. 34:1-12; Hosea 6:4-7:16; Luke 19:1-28

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23, NKJV

While attending a funeral in the small village of Emley, in West Yorkshire, England, I noticed a tombstone dated 1823. The inscription read: “Dear friends do not mourn at my decease, But strive with Christ to make your peace. Life is uncertain but death is sure, Death gave the wound but Christ the cure.” If you’ve not received God’s gift, may you do so today. —John M. Clegg

To God be the glory! Great things He hath done;
So loved He the world, that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life, an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.
