DAILY READINGS: 1 Kings 2:1-46; Jeremiah 10:1-25; Ephesians 4:1-16

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us. Titus 3:5, NKJV

The dying thief on the cross is a beautiful testimony to the truth of this scripture. Salvation is by faith and by faith alone! The contrite heart of this sinner repented and said, “this Man has done nothing wrong,” thus confessing that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God. He then earnestly prayed, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” Assured by the word of the Lord, “today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:41-43, NKJV), he died forgiven (not by his works but by the Lord’s blessed work) and went to heaven. —E.
