1 Chronicles 29:1-30; Ezekiel 26:1-21; John 9:18-41

Let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Ephesians 4:28

We need not look far to acknowledge that our world is a needy place. The disasters of hurricanes, earthquakes and floods cause much loss and suffering. And the increase in crime adds its share too. The Christian life is exemplified by giving. “For God so loved the world that He gave…” (John 3:16, NKJV). He saw us, pitied us, then did something about it. Can we say we love God and not give to a need? May we let our compassion dictate our generosity and help according to our ability and devotion to the Lord. —E. Dyck

Give as was given to you in your need,
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed
Unto your mission be true. —Ira B. Wilson
