2 Chronicles 29:1-36; Ezekiel 45:1-25; John 20:19-31

Help Lord. Psalm 12:1

This Psalm begins with a cry to God for help. David, the writer, had come under intense pressure largely through the words of his enemies. They had told lies about him and also spoken deceitfully. It seemed inevitable that their opinion would prevail and their evil ways would flourish. As he is without human help David seeks assistance, support and strength from the Lord to deal with the situation. This can so easily be our situation and then our need is to cry to the Lord from where our help will come. —Paul Young

Help us on Thee to cast our care,
And on Thy word to rest;
That Israel’s God, who hears our prayer,
Will grant us our request. —John Newton
