Genesis 3:1-24; Job 4:1-5:27; Matthew 3:1-17

We spend our years as a tale that is told. Psalm 90:9

Recently, I found a letter to my father dated May, 1946. The letter was signed by eight workmen from the paint shop of the naval dockyard in Hong Kong. My father was there to help re-establish the naval base after the Second World War. In quaint English they wrote: “You treated us very well. We always talk about your good conduct and gentle movement as a story.” May the story that our lives tell commend the Christian way of life to others as we seek to glorify God in our bodies. —Brian Powlesland

I want, and this sums up my prayer,
To glorify Thee till I die;
Then calmly to yield up my soul to Thy care,
And breathe out, in faith, my last sigh. —Charlotte Elliot
