Genesis 4:1-5:32; Job 6:1-7:21; Matthew 4:1-25

That there be no divisions among you… 1 Corinthians 1:10

Divisions don’t develop without cause. They start as a crushed spirit, a misunderstanding, a disappointment. In any body, and this includes the Church, there are so many working parts, so many elements for good and bad that there is always the potential for negative outcomes. It seems that one of the early issues in the Corinthian Church was that of favouritism; that is, each member had his or her favourite leader. Paul’s solution for Corinth was the same one he gave to the Philippians. Looking out for others, rather than looking up to others (Phil. 2:2-3), is one of the surest ways to unify the assembly. —N. Brother, sister, let me serve you, let me be as Christ to you;
Pray that I may have the grace, to let you be my servant too. —R. Gillard
