Genesis 10:1-11:26; Job 13:1-14:22; Matthew 6:19-7:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

Job endured severe trials. His wife urged him to curse God and die. His friends misunderstood Him. Slowly he sank into despair! But amidst it all, he was confident that God “knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10). What did God’s “good work” achieve? Job testifies; “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now my eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes” (Job 42:5-6). —Ray Jones
