DAILY READINGS: Gen. 44; Psalm 22:1-31; Matt. 25:31-46

Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her. John 8:7

One day, prior to an open-air meeting in which John Wesley was scheduled to preach, a troublemaker secretly determined to pelt him with stones. When the text at the head of this page was announced, the astonished would-be-disrupter dared not throw a rock. God’s Word is powerful (Hebrews 4:12-13) and reveals men’s hearts. The only safe course is to believe the Lord Jesus who says “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:22). —K. R. Keyser

As strangers then to God we lived, filled with enmity and fear;
Our souls from death He has reprieved, love revealed and brought
us near. —G. W. Fraser
