Exodus 37:1-29; Psalm 89:19-52; Acts 22:1-21

He will take…he will take…he will take. 1 Samuel 8:11-18

When the people demand a king, Samuel is offended. The Lord makes it clear to him that He is the one they have rejected, not Samuel. Then the Lord tells Samuel how to answer the people. Six times we read that a king “will take.” How opposite to the Lord God who gives and gives and gives some more. No scheme of man will ever supply the answers, the help, the hope, the security or the peace we are always searching for. We honour the Lord by depending on Him for all our needs. —M. MacMullen

Now none but Christ can satisfy,
None other name for me;
There’s love and life and lasting joy,
Lord Jesus, found in Thee. —J. McGranahan
