Exodus 39:1-43; Psalms 92:1-93:5; Acts 23:12-35

But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. Psalm 22:6

The suffering Saviour, in His humiliation and shame, likened Himself to a worm—a symbol of insignificance and helplessness. What is lower than a worm? We crush them without giving a second thought. Christ suffered such humiliation and rejection. Crushed by men. Crushed by my sins. Crushed by the judgment of God. “He was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities” (Isa. 53:5, ESV). —Peter Ramsay

Upon that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For every sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live. —Stuart Townend
