Leviticus 3:1-17; Psalm 102:1-28; Acts 26:1-18

Every one of you came near to me and said, “Let us send men before us, and let them search out the land for us…” Deuteronomy 1:22, NKJV

We learn here that it was not Moses, but the people who first wanted to send spies into Canaan to assess the land. At the end of his life, Moses reminded the people that it was their lack of faith in God’s word that led to their complaining, rebellion, and judgment. Sight-based faith is a deficient faith that cannot please God (Heb. 11:6). This means that the disaster at Kadesh-Barnea actually began the moment the spies entered Canaan, not when they returned. May we walk by faith and not by sight! —W. A. H.

Faith is the victory, we know, that overcomes the world. —J. H. Yates
