1 Samuel 15:1-35; Isaiah 54:1-17; Romans 1:18-32

And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed. Esther 3:15

What a contrast! Two powerful men who had ordered the merciless killing of all Jews indulged their desire for alcohol. They were without conscience, while the people experienced confusion and fear at such impending genocide. Yet God was watching and would not allow injury upon His people. Instead His judgement came upon those evil men. Both died prematurely, Haman within months and the king some years later. God can certainly be trusted. —Paul Young

Though trials may press us, and burdens distress us;
He never will leave us alone. —Kittie L. Suffield
