1 Kings 11:1-43; Jeremiah 19:1-20:18; Philippians 4:2-23

In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. Psalm 31:1-2

In the psalmist’s sadness, there is an echo of our Lord’s suffering. As He suffered, He depended on His Father for strength. His greatest agony was when Heaven was silent as He bore the weight of the world’s sin. We cannot understand it! How much we have to praise Him for! —G. Frear

In You O Lord, I put my trust,
For You are right and good and just,
You are my Rock and Fortress strong,
Lead and guide, for this I long. —G. F
