2 Kings 9:1-37; Jeremiah 44:1-30; Hebrews 11:17-40

During a time of heightened security soldiers were ordered to take off their uniforms while off duty. This saddened them because they proudly identified themselves with what the uniform stood for. As Christians do we gladly display our identification with Christ or do we choose to blend into the background. Throughout Church history believers have been subjected to ridicule, loss and death. With grace, courage, and dignity they have chosen to go where Christ is—outside the camp. Let us also recognize the privilege of being identified with Christ. He is worthy.—George Ferrier Am I a soldier of the Cross, a follower of the Lamb? And shall I fear to own His cause or blush to speak His name?—I. Watts
