2 Kings 13:1-14:22; Jeremiah 49:1-39; Hebrews 13:7-25

He…gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. Acts 14:17

While the world celebrates thanksgiving festivals and holidays, the colourful bounty of the harvest reminds us afresh of how dependant we are on God’s rich provision for us on every hand. The psalmist put it this way, “The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing” (Ps. 145:15-16, NKJV). May our hearts overflow with thanksgiving and praise to our God, and never take any one of His blessings for granted. —E. V.

We plow the fields and scatter, the good seed on the land,
But it is fed and watered by God’s almighty hand. —Matthias Claudius
