Bishops, Priests, and Deacons
By: W. Hoste
The essential features of a church is the presence of the Lord with a company of believers, according to His Word, “Where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matt 18:20).
Such assemblies are described more elaborately in Paul’s apostolic letters under the figure of a body analogous with that of a man, dominated by one will and permeated by one spirit.
The church is therefore not an organisation but an organism. It is a living thing and it grows. It is not office but character that counts. The reader is urged to have the New Testament close by while reading this book, to turn up all references and explore further the teaching of the Word of God on these vital subjects.
