From the Foreword by J. B. Nicholson Jr.:
There were many other Christian magazines with better paper, more pictures, and trend-setting typography. But it was the recurring testimonial of many that there was not a more Christ-exalting magazine to be found anywhere.
How could one magazine—in a day of such super-specialization—meet the heart needs of so many? It was read by sage elders and by college students, by homemakers and by prison inmates. Evangelists and Bible teachers in Zambia, India, Malaysia, and many Eastern European countries (where few or no Bible commentaries exist) pored over its pages, and then preached the truths it contained. Some copies of the magazine passed from hand to hand in a village, or through a prison cell block until they were tattered with use. Again we ask: How could one publication reach so many lives like that?
The Lord Jesus Himself declared: “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me” (Jn. 12:32). If the Lord Jesus Christ, repository of every spiritual blessing, is lifted up, there is not one child of God who cannot find exactly what he or she needs.
This is the secret of Counsel magazine
