The Followers of Jesus
By: F. S. Marsh
Was the pace and direction of life that the first disciples kept some unique phenomenon? Or is their stride something we should engage in too? Does our risen Lord offer us an exemption clause, or can we also read and believe 1 Peter 2:21? “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps.” It was an active business man in South Africa named William Blane that penned these words in his poem “She Kissed His Feet.”
Thus every one
Who knows the Saviour’s frank, forgiving love,
And hopes to fall before His feet above,
Has kissed God’s Son.
Yea, kissed His feet in pledge that they
Would not through all life’s trying way
His footprints shun.
