Volume 4 is the latest in the Old Testament Overview series. In this particular volume, the author weaves together the history recorded in 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles chapters 1 to 20, and also gives us an overview of the prophets who served the Lord during this period. He states, ‘Kings is written to explain why the exile was inevitable and that God is just in His judgements. Chronicles, on the other hand, is much more positive, stressing the possibility of recovery’. As one might expect, there is a rich vein of practical truth in such a record.

The Books covered in this volume are: 1 Kings, 2 Chronicles chapters 1-20, Isaiah, Hosea, Amos, Jonah, Micah, Obadiah, and Nahum.

Simon Sherwin was born and brought up in Derby. Raised in a Christian family, he was saved at a young age, baptized, and later received into the fellowship of the assembly that meets at the Meeting Room, Curzon Street. He studied for some years in Cambridge, meeting with the saints at Panton Hall, where he also met his wife, Jennifer. He moved to Scotland in 2004, where he now lives with his wife and children, gathering with the believers at the Innerleven Gospel Hall, Methil, Fife.
