As the great Jewish scholar Saadia HaGaon has written ‘the Song of Songs resembles lock to which the keys have been lost’. This book outlines past approaches to, provides a detailed structure of, and ventures to produce the lost keys for the interpretation of the Song. Parts 1 and 2 provide a broad introduction to the use of simile and metaphor, together with their part in the typological/eschatological projections of the Bible. These provide the foundation for the salvation-historical approach to the Song of Songs developed in Parts 3, 4 and 5 of the Book.
Rise Up My Love is also available in paperback.
