Thank you for accepting this Happy Face Pin, and for letting me tell you the wonderful secret of its five colored stones. This little note tells the story so you can take it with you as a reminder of our visit and the very good news I would like to share with you.
Do you want to be happy? Of course you do. Everyone does! But how can we be happy with so many sad things in the world? Lots of grown-ups think they know the way to be happy. They say it’s to have lots of friends or make lots of money. But there are rich people with lots of friends who still aren’t happy. The Bible says: “Happy is theone who trusts in the Lord” (Jeremiah 17:7). The colors on this Happy Face pin can tellus the way to be truly happy. Here’s what they mean.
The first stone is gold to remind us that, because God is good, He has a home for us in His heaven. The Lord Jesus, speaking to those who trust Him, said, “Don’t let your heart be troubled: youbelieve in God, believe in God, believe also in Me…I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:1-2). Isn’t that wonderful? You can be sure that God has a place for you in heaven!
But there’s a problem. A big problem. That’s what the dark stone stands for. The Bible says, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 323). God is not only loving, He is also perfect and sinners can’t be allowed to enter heaven with their sin. So the first step in being sure of heaven is for us to agree with God about our sin.
The third stone is blood red and that ought to be a clue: “The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleans us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). The Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Son, was born into the human race so He could die in our place, because “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). He let people nail Him to a wooden cross. Then God took the punishment that you and I deserved and put it on the Lord Jesus. If you agree with God that it was your sin that He was dying for, an dreceive Him personally as your Savior, God will forgive you the righteousness (or rightness) of Christ instead of our sinfulness. The Bible puts it like this: “He (Christ) was made sin for us, the One who knew no sin (He lived a perfect life), that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).
The fourth stone is white or clear to picture what happens the moment we put our trust alone in Christ and His finished work for us. We are cleared of all judgement for our sin. Even though your sons have stained you, “they shall be as white as snow,” promises God to those who obey His message (see Isaiah 1:18). How wonderful to know that we have been completely forgiven by the God who knows our every sin!
The fifth stone, as you can see, is green. Why green? Green reminds us of life and growth, doesn’t it. It reminds us of the gift we receive from God the moment we repent of our sin and believe God’s news, eternal life. This is not just a long life, but a new kind of life, bringing to our hearts true happiness, along with peace and joy and sure hope beyond death. I have received this life, and it is the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me. I invite you to discover the amazing secret of the new and wonderrul life! “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31)
True happiness comes in when you invite Jesus in!
