Types in Hebrews
Sir Robert Anderson Classic Library Series
By: Sir Robert Anderson

An enlightening examination of the Old Testament types found in Hebrews and their practical relevance for today.

“Hebrews has a very special voice for us in the “trials of our times,” as Bishop Wescott mentions in his commentary. Those who take the skeptics view of the Old Testament, primarily the Pentateuch, are joining the long line of individuals who are cheating themselves of the blessing of having the proper ammunition to fight spiritual battles that are part of our everyday lives. An effort is made herein to give a prominent place to the teachings of the Hebrews epistle, so that we may have the proper understanding of the types of the Old Testament and their application to the Christian life.” ~From the Preface

Sir Robert Anderson (1841-1918) was converted to Christ at the age of nineteen and almost immediately began to preach to his native Dublin where he trained at Trinity College for the leaga profession. He became a respected member of the Irish Home Office and an expert on criminal investigation. In 1888, he was summoned to Scotland Yard in London to serve as chief of the Criminal Investigation Department, an office he filled with distinction until his retirement in 1896. In addition to his many duties with Scotland Yard, he also preached at various Bible conferences and wrote seventeen books.
