DAILY READINGS: Joshua 8:1-35; Isaiah 5:1-30; Luke 22:54-23:12

All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 1 Corinthians 6:12

Christians often condone so called “innocent practices,” claiming, “There’s nothing wrong with it.” The question should be, “Is it profitable, promoting spiritual growth?” When given priority in our lives, these “things” have the potential to become “weights,” ensnaring us and distancing us from the Lord. “Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves” (Rom. 14:22, NKJV). —E. V.

Nothing between, like worldly pleasure,
Habits of life though harmless they seem;
Must not from Him my heart e’er sever,
He is my all there’s nothing between. —Charles A. Tindley
